From 2007 onwards the Geologie-Endogene Dynamik (GED) group of the RWTH Aachen University developed a range of world class SEM imaging and ion-milling methods to characterize the in-situ microstructure of wet and fine-grained rocks. These developments are crucial for a comprehensive understanding of tight materials like clays, rock salt, oil reservoir sandstone, mudstones, shales and tight sands. Based on the cutting-edge methods and the experience gained in a number of industry projects as spin-off company was founded in 2016, in order to be able to offer the expertise outside the R&D market.
